Apps To Manage Your TimeWe’re all busy, busy, busy these days and it helps to know where we’re supposed  to be when, without having to track down (or pay!) a personal assistant. Some of these apps will help keep you on time and on track.

Apps for mobile and handheld devices can be especially useful, since you can check in on your schedule and task list on the fly. Here are five ways to manage your time:

  • Siri: This voice-activated Apple service is useful in many ways, but what some people don’t know is that you can actually set up reminders that will be activated when you reach a certain spot. So if you’re driving near the post office, your phone will remind you to pick up your package. It’s easy to use and works smashingly.

  • Pocket Informant: This smartphone app can come off as overwhelming when you first start using it, but that’s just because it offers so many possibilities for customization. The point is to combine events, tasks, and notes in one handy location, so that you don’t have to waste time looking up details separately. It’s currently available for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry.

  • Launchy and Quicksilver: For Windows and Mac, respectively, these apps help open programs and files with a keyboard shortcut, instead of having to search through menus and folders each time. Quicksilver even goes a step further and helps with sending email and other tasks.

  • KeyRocket: Another app to use keyboard shortcuts, but in Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Windows Explorer and Gmail for Chrome. This app shows the most useful shortcuts for each user and helps to master them. Good way to avoid writing shortcuts down on hundreds of PostIT.

  • Wunderlist: This is an offline program that keeps track of tasks and scheduling without relying on the web. However, you can share your info with multiple users online, or print of schedules to post up around the office. The interface is pretty straightforward, too.

Everyone has a favorite and it can be a matter of trying out a few to see which best fits your personal style. Start with the ones we’ve listed here and let us know which one is your favorite or which one we missed that lets you work at the speed of light. Comments are open ;)
